I wanted to show how the traditional concept of libraries as staid, humorless institutions is giving way to a more vibrant and technologically advanced image. |
This is mostly a .gif dedicated to the as-yet-unborn World Digital Library, a collaboration between Egypt's Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Egyptian National Library and Archives, Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Russia's National Library and Russian State Library, the United States' Library of Congress and UNESCO. The goal of the project is 'to promote international and inter-cultural understanding and awareness, to provide resources to educators, to expand non-English and non-Western content on the Internet, and to contribute scholarly research'. |
