Scholarly
research is a tedious, complex and, at times, frustrating process
which results in great satisfaction. As you continue researching,
the uncertainty you experience will diminish and you will achieve
clarity with a more defined path. You must try many search strategies
to gain a sufficient variety of documents. Successful researchers
always collect more sources than they ultimately use. Research requires
sorting through sources and choosing those that are most pertinent.
Electronic resources are very alluring. Rutgers University Libraries
provides access to dynamic databases. Yet, do not neglect the rich
print collection housed in Alexander Library. The library's valuable
reference tools will help you get started. New and classic scholarly
books will serve as guides through the discipline. You will find
a larger collection of scholarly journals in the library than are
available electronically. Therefore, in order to conduct quality
research for social work, you must use both print and electronic
resources.
