From Slave Castle to Tourist Attraction
Originally built as a fort by the Swedish for timber and mineral exportation, the Cape Coast Castle was not always a holding place for slaves, but eventually the British would gain control of it and designate it as so. Today, the pentagon-shaped, ivory-colored structure is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Ghana.
