Exhibits

Libraries work with museums, museums maintain their own libraries, and libraries put on their own exhibitions of books, art, or artifacts. Librarians are constantly developing exciting exhibits and digital initiatives. Below are some excellent exhibits provided by museums and libraries.

Museum exhibits

The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Museums such as The Met offer online collections and house librarians of artifacts beyond what is shown in exhibits

Google Art Project: This website provides incredible access to museums around the world.

Library exhibits

The British Museum: The national library houses an incredible collection of historical texts, including the Magna Carta and The Beatle's original writings of song lyrics. Their digital library makes many of these texts available for viewing online.

Trinity Library: This university library in Ireland houses The Book of Kells, one of the oldest and most beautiful texts in existence today.

New York Public Library: The New York Public Library houses a number of interesting exhibits, including a display of the original stuffed animals there were the model for Winnie the Pooh.

Rutgers University Libraries: This fascinating digital exhibit, presented by the Rutgers University Libraries, looks at the works of John Milton.

Many local and university libraries include their own small rotating exhibits. Go for a visit or check online to see what is available.
