LyndaCampus
- SC&I is subscribing to a service called LyndaCampus that is a school-wide version of lynda.com, an online training library of over 80,000 video based training movies on over 1400 software titles. LyndaCampus is available for free for students registered in SC&I courses and can be used to learn software, programming skills, video techniques, etc.
Titles include: all of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.), all of Adobe CS6 & CC (DreamWeaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, etc.), Fundamentals of Video, iMovie, Social Media Marketing, Twitter, SPSS, Google Docs, HTML5, CSS, MySQL, PHP, Python, C/C++/C#, WordPress, etc. Students can watch the videos, follow along with exercise files, and even print a certificate of completion upon completion of a course. - Login to LyndaCampus (when you first log into lynda, you are given the opportunity to personalize your profile).
- Remember: you must be logged into LyndaCampus to be able to access the lynda.com videos included in the Lectures page of this course.

Software
Required: Adobe Creative Cloud / Suite: Dreamweaver, Fireworks / Photoshop, Animate (= Flash), etc.
- Adobe Creative Cloud:
- You are able to access Adobe Creative Cloud for free via Adobe Cloud for Teams offered by SC&I IT for the duration of the course (inivitation email will be sent to you with instructions for how to activate your specific details will be posted shortly).
- You can of course decide to acquire your own Creative Clould subscription (after the end of the course) so that you will be able to use the software in other courses and to deepen your expertise: many MLIS students find it a worthwhile investment.
- Adobe Creative Suite: is the previous standalone software suite offered by Adobe.
- Adobe CS6, CS5 and CS4 are fine to use in the course if you already own them, but if you are about to purchase the software, make sure to purchase CS6.
- Adobe CS3 is okay to use if you already own it, however the CS4+ interface is different and certain CS3 features are not supported anymore in CS4+.
- Video Editing
- Premiere Elements (Windows / Mac; $120; available together with Photoshop Elements for less and you can use free 30 Day trial).
- Possible to use free iMovie (Mac) and Windows Movie Maker (Win) which have basic video editing capabilities.
- Adobe Cloud users can use Premiere Pro CC for free.
Grading
Please note the different grade scale than is more commonly used since you are able to resubmit exercises.
95 - 100 | A |

Exercises (50% of Course Grade)
There will be three exercises that you will be able to resubmit :
- Exercise 1 Project Outline: Create Outline of Your Project Site – Due Week 3 | Revision Due Week 5.
- Exercise 2 Navigation Design: Create Interactive Navigation Structure – Due Week 5 | Revision Due Week 6.
- Exercise 3 Visual Storytelling | Animation design: Create Visual Collage / Photo Essay and Flash Animation / Digital Video – Due Week 7 | Revision Due Week 8.
Project (50% of Course Grade)
The exercises will form the basis for the design and content of the project (no redo):
- Project (50%) Multimedia Design – Create Multimedia Website using HTML, CSS and Flash / Video – Due Week 8.
