About This Project

Most people don’t plan to go deep into debt when they get their first piece of plastic, but having access to a credit line can be terribly seductive. I know that from first-hand experience because I struggled to pay off thousands of dollars in credit card debt and had to learn how to effectively manage my money. Now I try to help other people learn how to dig their way out of debt and be smart consumers.

It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, black or white, single or married. Debt affects people from all walks of life. For many people not only is it important to change their financial habits, but also to adjust their thinking about credit and debt. The reality is that many people really haven't given much thought to why they are in debt beyond focusing on their income. For many consumers poor money habits reflect a lack of financial education and other emotional issues may be leading them to overspend.

I hope that this multimedia project will get people to think about how debt can take over a person's life. I also hope that the information and resources will empower anyone who wants to be financially fit to begin making the big and small changes that can help them reach their goals.
