Millions of Americans are losing the race to keep up with credit card payments and other debt. The pull toward credit cards, car loans and other credit lines begins young. Americans are expected to owe about $870 billion just in credit card debt in 2012, according to the Nilson Report. To make matters worse, student loan debt surpassed credit card debt for the first time in 2012. That means a lot of recent graduates are struggling to pay bills even before entering the work force. For many consumers a lack of financial education is a huge contributor to their debt woes.
