Information Literacy

Information Literacy

Information literacy is the process of finding, assessing, and using information and the skills that are involved in achieving this.

Currently, many students exhibit poor information seeking skills, especially on the Internet. It can't be assumed that since today's children have grown up with technology, they know how to use it effectively for information seeking. A librarian in a 21st century library must show students how to use magazines, books, journals, and online information to get multiple perspectives in order to form a conclusion of their topic, which is a skill they will use for the rest of their lives.
