Information Literacy

A Chance to Succeed

School libraries help children that are at the lower end of the socioeconomic stratum get an equal opportunity to access valuable information, and therefore succeed in school and beyond. Without too many other resources available to them, school libraries are one of the few free resources to support, inspire, and educate regardless of the school or town's status.

The 21st century school library is for many disadvantaged children a major source of exposure to learning materials that stimulate their thinking, creativity, reading skills, such as:

  • books
  • magazines
  • newer media
