Overview

Until recently, the issues of water were considered to be a third world problem but now even the most industrialized nations including Canada, China, Russia, and even the United States have taken giant leaps in exploiting the economics of water.

Today, corporations world-wide own and control water resources; their objective is to maximize profits, rather than serve the public good. If they are allowed to continue unregulated, billions of people all over the world will have very little or no access to affordable water. Under the garb of efficiency to water systems, large organizations are exploiting natural sources and making water a commodity for profiteering. Several local, national, and international examples and instances are available across media and our immediate neighborhood.

This story does not take extreme positions but leans towards a practical solution that maintains "privatization cannot be avoided or be considered as bad. As long as it can confirm that there is a well-designed program which keeps peoples basic needs as primary, people will be willing to afford and pay for water services."
