Corporations are exploiting the economics of water. Privatization of water means two things - firstly, private companies / corporations owning and controlling our water services such as the water and/or sewer system and secondly, private companies in the business of bottled or bulk water advocating safety hazards of public water system for profit motives. Bottled water is useful in emergencies and at times, needed for health reasons. But it is not necessarily better than tap water; and comes at a heavy environmental and social price.
Corporate giants are forcing developing countries to privatize their water supply for profit. Corrupt governments are using water for economic and political gain. Water is becoming a commodity, and will soon be scarce. The economy of water privatization is a new and legitimate issue.
