libraries :: ever-evolving architecture

Since even before the great Library of Alexandria (ca. 3 BCE) the architecture and contents of libraries have continued to change. Libraries do not just house clay tablets, scrolls or books; they house information -- of all sorts.

There are several main types of libraries.

Digital libraries can include, and be included by, any of these. Examples of digital libraries are Google Book Search, ACM, and Project Gutenberg.

Of course, libraries and information agencies of any sort need information professionals.
