promise of digitalisation

how may digital libraries change the way we organise information?
what is the promise of digitisation?

james d. anderson: interesting thing is that this [digitalisation] can be used for preservation purposes and i find this idea fascinating... because so far we really do not know how long that medium will last and we have trouble not because of the media, but because the technology keeps changing

... they [digital libraries] are wonderful because of the manipulation... unlike physical library, as soon you digitise you have tools for access and organisation...

... for me the promise of digital library is improved access for less and less money
